Prints by Lockwood Dennis
Lockwood Dennis began his distinguished print making career beginning in 1978 with lithographs, followed by woodcuts in 1985. The lithograph medium allowed Lockwood to continue with the impressionistic style he had begun with his paintings. However, the nature of the woodcut medium led to the development of a simplified graphical style which in itself became an artistic signature. The clever use of up to 7 overlapping blocks of different colors for a single image enabled a wealth of rich tones to be generated in his color woodcuts.
